New Day - A Program for the Recently Widowed and Bereaved

If you are recently bereaved because of the loss of a loved one you need to give yourself some time to work through the natural process of grieving. “New Day” is a program in which you can deal with the pain in an atmosphere of care and understanding.

“New Day” is a ten-week program that will help you work through the tasks of grief. It is based upon the premise that sharing ones thoughts, feelings, and experiences with others in similar situations is one of the most helpful ways to move beyond the pain that is caused by the loss of a loved one. It is not a therapy session. It is an opportunity to move with others who have experienced the same loss, on the journey from grief to healing.

Some of the topics that will be addressed in this program are:

  • Acceptance of loss
  • The Journey From Grief to Healing
  • Adjusting to a Loss
  • Creating Cherishable Memories
  • The Spiritual Journey of Grief

Time:
The program consists of one meeting each week for ten weeks, plus exercises to be practiced between the sessions.

Facilitators:
Trained facilitators will conduct the seminar. They are not counselors; rather they are people who have experienced grief in their lives, and are able to move with the group through the tasks of grief.

Cost:
The suggested donation for the entire ten weeks is $10.00 to cover the cost of materials. A small donation toward refreshments may be requested.

Registration:
It is necessary that you register in advance to ensure that you enter a group at the appropriate point in the series and to ensure that materials are available, by contacting the group facilitator.
