Retrouvaille - FAQ

What is Retrouvaille?
Retrouvaille is the name of a program designed to help heal and renew troubled marriages.
The word “Retrouvaille” simply means rediscovery. It is a program that offers you the chance to rediscover yourself, your spouse, and a loving relationship in your marriage.

Whom can Retrouvaille help?
If your marriage has become unloving and uncaring or if your relationship has grown cold and distant, if there is little or no communication or if you feel disappointment, even despair, then we believe Retrouvaille can help your marriage.
Even if you are thinking of separation or divorce or you are already separated but want to try again, we believe that Retrouvaille can help you.
If you and your spouse want your marriage and are willing to put in your best effort, then we invite you, even urge you; to come to a Retrouvaille weekend.
Although Retrouvaille is a Catholic program, we welcome couples of other faiths. However, because it is designed to help marriages, we do not recommend it to those living common-law.

How can Retrouvaille help?
The emphasis of the program is on improving the relationship between husband and wife.
The program consists of a weekend and several follow-through sessions.
On the weekend, a series of in-depth presentations are given to you and other couples like yourselves. Each presentation is given by one of three married couples and a priest and focuses on a specific area of marital relationship. After each presentation, you will have a chance to reflect on it by yourself, then discuss it with your spouse in complete privacy.
The weekend is not a spiritual retreat, not a sensitivity group, not a seminar, nor is it a social gathering. It is a weekend devoted to rediscovering love in your relationship.
You will not be required to share your problems with anyone else.
You will, however, be encouraged to put the past behind you and start “rediscovering your spouse again.
The weekend is not a “miracle-cure”. Therefore, follow-through sessions have been designed to continue the marriage renewal begun on the weekend. These follow-through sessions review earlier concepts in greater depth, present new ones, and help you apply these concepts to your own marriage.

What will it cost?
No couple is ever denied the chance to heal and renew their marriage because they face financial difficulties. This concern should not influence your decision to come to a Retrouvaille weekend.
On the weekend, you will be asked for a donation.  This donation covers the expenses of both the weekend and the follow-through sessions.
A fee is requested when you register for the weekend to confirm your reservation for meals and lodging.

How can you get more information?
You can learn more about the program by contacting:1-800-470-2230.

The next scheduled weekend is September 12-14, 2008.

All calls are confidential.
